Dolphin Saved on Tamarindo Beach Print E-mail

Last week, this dolphin was injured in the fishing nets set in the area of Isla Real Las Penas.  The locals and ourselves worked diligently to assist this dolphin to get back in the ocean water. The dolphin had a small injury on its side.  The commercial fisherman from Puerto Sandino to the south of Tamarindo Beach and from Salinas Grandes to the north worked at night through to the early morning to help this dolphin. Having a dolphin playing in the ocean off the beach is a common site. As are turtles and multitudes of fish. Having a distressed dolphin is rare.

Additionally, the sea turtles are nesting on our island beach on a regular basis, but are particularly active right now.  They generally arrive at 9:30pm and their favorite place on the island seems to be Tamarindo Beach. We intend to protect these animals interests in a procative manner.
