An Oregon based surf tour company whom has been operating in Nicaragua for many years closed on the purchase of several island acres and the lodge building last month. This operator runs daily surf tours on the waves off our beach presently from Puerto Sandino. The company will be changing operations to include the island lodge. This property is between Tamarindo Beach and Suenos Beach and easily accessed from either. The long beautful beach and excellent surf conditions continue to impress all that come and enjoy the beauty. |

In the coming days, the electricity upgrade to the penninsula area begins with concrete power poles and 3 phase power being erected along the road side entrance to the Tamarindo penninsula. This will replace the 100 volt service with 220 volt service. The planning and permits for this work has been detailed and reviewed over many months, with the final permit being issued a few months ago. The work will start shortly. |

The federal government of Nicaragua has generated further assurances for Tamarindo Beach Title Owners through a newly formed document review process called "The letter of No Objection". This is a document that is issued by the attorney general's office after an extensive review process which in some cases takes a year. The process is to thoroughly review the title origins via presentations and interviews. This new regulatory hurdle was unexpectantly introduced 1.5 years ago in order to wean out false titles, and became a neccessary document before proceeding to any new title registrations. The Tamarindo Beach files are now complete and registration can move forward.
The penninsula area that Tamarindo is situated upon is steadily producing gains in the area of title clarification in several ways. The Suenos area to the south is fully title insured as of last month, which is the first parcel in the area. Several areas to the north are reported to have their letters of no objection. In some cases, we have confirmed this to be true. This means most of the 7 miles of beachfront on our penninsula is being subdivided and registered, which is the neccessary step prior to development. The development process continues forward. |

Close to a thousand green sea turtles lumber up the fine sandy beach of our penninsula to lay their eggs each year at this time.
Around 10 pm they begin emerging from the ocean in the deep dark night.
The small car size turtles favor the Tamarindo Beach area for some unknown reason and they return to the ocean around midnight. It is a special event to see.
We are doing our best to re educate the locals on the value of preserving these precious eggs for the future.
We welcome your assistance. |

Off the coast of Tamarindo Beach is a major breeding ground for humpback whales. These fantastic mammals play in the surf with one another with youthful energy.
The young are born in our area and they enjoy the plentiful food in the crystal clean water.
One can also see large groups of dolphins jumping waves at many different spots. |

A deal is being negotiated to provide a fishing and wildlife tour on the well know Grayline Bus company of Nicaragua. This will be offered to cruise ship clients whom dock at nearby Corinto and often lunch in Leon. The tour will consist of a private off shore fishing excursion and will expand into whale watching, turtle observation and lobster trapping. It could also be expanded to a surf day. The deep sea fishing experience is first class and has no competiton in the country to our knowledge. We expect this to be very successful. |

Another day off Tamarindo Beach brings in yet another 150 pound fish. This is world class !!! We are landing five foot dorados, sailfish and mackerals every day.
The astonishing marine life discovery journey continues every day as we learn more about this pristine area. For instance, right now hundreds of sea turtles are nesting nightly on Tamarindo Beach. They come on shore around 10 pm and the huge animals lumber up the beach.
Meanwhile, the humpback whale has a serious breeding area off shore and many small whales are jumping. Packs of dolphins are also present off shore with groups of 20 jumping waves.
Finally, the rock shelf projecting a kilometer off the island is loaded with lobster. It is a simple free dive 5-10' under to pick up your dinner. It is astonishing.
For environmental minded people, we are strictly catch and release fishers. We also are clear on the priority to protect these marine treasures. We welcome you to come and participate in this process. |

Here is today's 120 pound, 7 foot sailfish on the Nica Charters fish boat. We have been chasing many of these off the shore of Tamarindo Beach for several days. In this pursuit, we have had several 200 pound sail fish on the line. Finally, we got one.
Our policy is catch and release so this fish was set back in the Ocean. We have also been catching large mackerals, jacks, needlenose and dorados. With thousands of fish in these waters, this area is an anglers paradise.
Please come and fish with our new charter company: Nica Charters, and stay at our new lodge overlooking the surf break... these waters are absolutely untouched. |
